Enterprises Starts Fresh and Goes All Natural
(May 28, 2003 - Sherman Oaks, CA) -- d’Oni Enterprises,
the company that became a Southern California favorite by introducing
haute-world flavors into the gourmet condiment marketplace, has gone
all-natural and preservative-free, concurrent with the launch of Happy
Together, their new Grill.Glaze.Dip. Producing an all-natural and preservative-free
product line was a top priority for the company.
Two products, Moondance Marinade and Bold-as-Love Honey-Habanero Mustard,
contained a small trace amount of preservatives, and over the last year have
been reformulated to become both preservative-free and all-natural like d’Oni's
companion product, Burning Desire Habanero Hot Sauce. Knowing d’Oni
Enterprises' corporate commitment to advancing an all-natural product line,
co-packer Beaverton Foods worked closely with the company's founder, Janis
M. Dalessandro, to find the perfect ingredients to meet that goal while maintaining
d’Oni's award-winning quality and taste. d’Oni Enterprises' latest
creation, Happy Together Grill.Glaze.Dip -- a unique mingling of orange, chile
and garlic flavors -- was created with the same focus.
d’Oni president Dalessandro explains why a small company would take
a huge leap into the natural foods market:
"I was on my cell phone one day with my mother when my office line rang
and I was greeted with:
'Hi. This is the Sr. Buyer for (insert the name of a leader in the natural
foods market that we've hoped would carry our products since day one).'
My response: 'Mom, I have to take this call.'"
Dalessandro continues: "After a good laugh at my reaction, he explained
that he had samples of our products in front of him. I, being the inquisitive
one, asked 'how did you get them?' He responded that he had seen them on the
shelves in the warehouse of our local distributor. I, still inquisitive, asked
'why do you have them?" He said that the label caught his eye so he asked
for them. I, even more inquisitive and knowing that their stores would never
allow products with even a trace of preservatives in the door, asked 'have
you read the label to see that there is a preservative in two of the products?'
His answer was very clear: 'Yes. Take them out and I will order.'"
Dalessandro explains that since her personal business philosophy has always
been "do your marketing homework and meet the needs of your market,"
this phone call was yet another indication that d’Oni had done its homework
correctly.
"We just needed to follow our primary goals and never deviate from them,"
she says. "We all have different reasons for being in business, and d’Oni's
is to provide tasteful and natural enhancements with an element of heat to
